We booked 2 night and left without even staying! The place is creepy! We had a room in the wine building and it had its own bathroom, the place is dark and the room seemed like no one had stayed in it for months. Dusty and no air conditioning. Freeky writings all over the walls, strange painting all over an the pipes have faces painted on like someone is watching you. The satin lives here picture was the last straw for us! If you like that sort of things, then you might like it there, but it was not for us!

We traveled to McMenami s for an out-of-state wedding. We were a little concerned about the "shared" bathrooms, but it turned out to not be an issue at all. We LOVED this place! The weather was good so the rooms were perfectly comfortable. The various pubs and restaurants had a great variety of food and beverages, and the Ruby Ale was amazing! The staff was mostly quite friendly and helpful (though the weekend front desk staff were a little snotty). We loved that you could walk from one place to another with adult beverages, and the soaking pool was great. We took the history tour, and Thursday, the tour guide, gave us a great historical background. The artwork on the walls everywhere tells the story of the venue, and it was fascinating. We would definitely recommend this venue!

We had a mixed experience--we hosted a rehearsal dinner for our family members, 28 guests total. The event was in the Barley room, and the food and service were excellent. Likewise, our wedding event there, in Blackberry Hall was wonderful. Not so with Room #19. The hotel room in the main building was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a hotel. The room was broiling hot. We had a wedding event for family, and we were so uncomfortable trying to get ready. The room smelled like the stench of a thousand dogs. I have dogs, and I understand dog smell. Room 19 smelled so horrible it was nearly intolerable. Next, windows opened to the deck outside, so the noise was constant. The drapes didn't cover the windows well, and we were trying to get ready for the wedding. I turned off the lights to help so people couldn't as easily watch us dress and undress. The box fan (NOT a 'swamp cooler,' a cheap box fan) was loud and blew the 95-degree heat around, NOT helpful. At 10:30, we collapsed in the hot room. NO screens on windows outside, and people were still sitting out there and chatting noisily. There's a sign that it's closed at 10 pm, but staff ignored people breaking the rules, clearly. I finally opened the window, and said, "Please move elsewhere, we're resting." We slept for a few hours, on top of bed as it was cooking hot. Loud, BAD smell, cooking hot. I love the venue for food and service but don't stay in their rooms. They are very unpleasant. Our guests, for whom we paid for a room to stay there, were similarly disappointed. They were in Room #23.

Stayed in one of the suites with a private bathroom. Nights run about $250 compare to the hostel style rooms at $45 with shared baths. Mind you, I have been a McMennamins fan for 15 years and have eaten at many locations and stayed at a couple. This is the worst lodging I have experienced at one of their facilities. First off, there is no A/C and the cooling methods were a 1) supplied box fan with no dial or settings, and was a loud as a small airplane engine, 2) opening the windows that don’t have screens. Mind you, we were traveling with small children and neither is safe giving a child could easily climb and go out the 2nd story window, or stick a finger in the box fan. It was too hot to sleep comfortably under the sheets. Secondly, the room was dirty. We found a cuff link on the floor that a child could have easily swallowed. The bathroom shower stall was moldy. Massive cobwebs in the corner of the bathroom and of some of the window sills. The doors are paper thin and individual conversations are perfectly clear from down the hall. Car engines, honking, and loud conversations carried through the wee hours. Even the dresser drawers were loud. My son wanted the loud box fan on just to cover up the street noise. Managed to get a couple hours of sleep once the room wasn’t sweltering and the traffic noises died down. The mattress was not good, and you can feel every spring pushing on your body. Any movement on the bed rippled through out the mattress. Beware anyone with back problems. If this room was $120 bucks, I would have gotten what I paid for. $255 before taxes makes this a ripoff. The location is good if you are drunk enough to just pass out after an entertaining evening. Not good if you would like rest and need some minimal amount of comfort and quiet to do so. If at an event at Edgefield in the future, I would Uber to and from a better hotel. Pros were the usual localized art and historical decor and rooms, good food, good drinks, and coffee available in the hallway of the hotel. Grounds are beautiful. Staff are were nice, but the check in staff were very overwhelmed and could have used more backup.

This used to be my favorite concert venue in the PNW. The grounds are beautiful and it’s an intimate setting. I will still attend concerts here, but Mcmennamins concert logistics could use some serious improvements. First, they confiscated my small personal shade umbrella at the gate stating it wasn’t collapsible. Nothing in their policy said it had to collapse. I read the requirements thoroughly. Secondly, the line to wait is in the hot sun, while shade areas are available. They do provide water, though, which was good. When we got in to the venue, they were not prepared for the amount of people. Lines for food and drinks were horrible. My husband stood in line for an hour (starting 40 minutes before show time) and missed the first 7 songs. Then they shorted us on the food. I got a pile of meat in a box. No vegetables or rice as stated. The concert ended abruptly around 9:00, before the sun had even set. And then the staff walked around pushing people out. I understand and appreciate that the staff is trying to keep people safe, follow rules, noise ordinances, crowd control etc. but this felt much more rigid and militant than the many, many previous concerts I’ve attended there. I heard several people express the same concerns. Listen, the concert was amazing, the venue is ideal, we love McMennamins in general. We just hope they can figure their concert logistics out a little better so the experience is thoroughly enjoyable and people want to come back.

I would travel here just to stay at the McMenamins Edgefield, it is an experience in itself. I had a lovely room with a half bath for such a reasonable rate. I ate at the bar with fun chatty bartenders and very good food. And great craft cocktails. I enjoyed the soothing bathing pool, hardly anyone there, not like crowded resort pools. Perfect warm temperature. Slept soundly but did have one experience that I was able to record in the “ghost log” at the front desk. Lovely lovely experience.

McMenamin's 100% needs to change their rain or shine concert policy (or provide sheltered areas). We paid a lot of money to go see Elvis Costello and Daryl Hall on June 2 and sat in pouring rain the whole time. It was a cold, miserable, muddy, sopping-wet mess. The venue was half full (for two artists who deserved a packed crowd), and many people left before the main act even played (and what kind of upside-down world are we living in where Elvis is the OPENING ACT for Daryl Hall?? That's clearly not McMenamin's fault, but they definitely could have made that clearer in their advertising for the concert). Their show must go on in the rain policy is disrespectful to both the artists and their fans.

This was my second trip to the Edgefield and it did not disappoint. The building evokes a feeling of nostalgia for a time gone by. Cozy nooks for reading or visiting, great little “pubs” for a libation, a fun gift shop, and excellent restaurants. We were a group of 3 couples, and sharing “room tours” was a highlight. Watch for surprises hidden in the fabulous artwork. The grounds are gorgeous and a soak in the hot pool is a must. I appreciated the lack of TV’s in the rooms.

The bartender at the golf course is horrible. We waited for 10 minutes in line to check in for our tee time. When we finally got to the front of the line, she said we were too late and could not play golf. We would have made it had she not been so slow (which caused the long line). We drove all the way there just to play golf. Thanks for ruining our birthday outing.
